Services

With my broad based background in metallurgical engineering, I can help you evaluate materials, manufacturing techniques and facility requirements for your projects, regardless of level of complexity, precisely focused to meet your needs.  Many projects benefit from using either a designed experiment or simulation approach, providing you with anticipated  results before you spend many thousands of dollars on materials, equipment or inventory, giving you maximum value for your investment.

My special expertise in mechanical metallurgy, metals manufacturing, inspection techniques and failure investigations can help you deal effectively with everything from materials selection and production issues to equipment selection and facility planning, to the development of new or improved test methods for plant or field use.

  • Engineering

Past engineering projects that I've worked on have  ranged from materials selection, fabrication and processing to development of manufacturing and test methods, facility planning, equipment selection and shop layouts.  I've also assisted clients with the development of test protocols,  provided guidance on corrosion control and control of process parameters..  In the event that you encounter material failures, I can work with your in house staff or an independent laboratory to conduct a complete failure investigation, including providing expert testimony if required.

My experience covers a wide variety of processes, including all aspects of steelmaking, tube and wire production, casting, forging, forming techniques, and coating methods including galvanizing and thermal spray processes.

I can also provide expert guidance and consultation on materials testing and ASTM standard test methods related to metals, particularly steels of all sorts, nickel, titanium, copper and aluminum alloys, and quality & statistical standards.

  • Manufacturing Planning and Quality

My extensive background in quantitative analytical methods have proved useful in the development of quality systems and production plans for many situations.  This includes everything from experimental design to the analysis of test data, and presentation of results in ways that both you and others can understand and use to your and your customers advantage.

  • Engineering Economics

The use of economic analysis techniques, such as present worth, internal rate of return and payback period methods can be used to objectively analyze the acquisition of new facilities or equipment as well as the potential returns from activities that carry a risk quotient.  My background in teaching and development of models for performing breakeven, risk, sensitivity and probabilistic analysis can help you evaluate options including make or buy, where to outsource and numerous other business decisions before you act.
